The second unit of the course is essential to prepare the teacher for the classroom. Grammar is the set of rules and behaviors that serve to construct a language in a cohesive and coherent way. Grammar mainly serves to facilitate communication between all of us. For example, when we study verbal conjugations, we study the common way of flexing verbs. If grammar did not exist, people would conjugate verbs differently and we would not understand each other.
The student who is learning English may have an understanding of the language based only on experience and not on the study of grammatical rules. But it is essential that a teacher, serving as a source of language knowledge (as seen in the previous unit), knows the rules both when he / she is questioned, and to teach the language based on the definite language structure.
