This unit covered lesson planning. Lesson planning helps teachers create and carry out a focused plan with concrete goals. Although it's important to be flexible when teaching the actual lesson, teachers will feel more prepared and confident after preparing lesson plans. If teachers must change something from their lesson plans, they should be sure to mark it down so they have what they did for their records.
Lesson plans should include materials necessary, goals for both the teacher and students, anticipated problems including solutions, and the actual procedure with estimated time taken for each activity. Because this course focuses on the ESA method of teaching, the sample lesson plans also included which stage each activity covered. Different teachers, however, work better under different constraints or with different amounts of preparation. Therefore, lesson plans can look very different.
