Receptive skills are those skills in which we receive language, they are reading and listening. Unit 11 introduces the theories and methods of teaching receptive skills; briefly states a number of specialist skills required in reading and listening; and the strategies of solving the potential problems when teaching and learning receptive skills. Unit 11 divides the reasons and motives for reading and listening into two categories: for purpose and entertainment. What I found the most useful is that Unit 11 outlines a typical receptive skill lesson plan and summarizes the basic keys to the successful lessons.
