The past tense, as the name suggests, refers to the past time period. The system and structure of past tense is not too different from present tense. Like present tense, past tense also has the following four forms:
1) Past Simple Tense: This form is used to talk about a completed action in a time before now. For Example: I often studied at the library.
2) Past Continuous Tense: While describing an action that was happening in the past, we use past continuous tense. For example: It was raining when I got home.
3) Past Perfect Tense:When we want to talk about an action that happened before a past event, we often use the past perfect. For example: As soon as she had done her homework, she went to bed.
4)Past Perfect Continuous Tense: This form indicates a continuous action that was completed at some point in the past. For example: I had been working in the kitchen all morning.
