We learn to teach many different, specialized groups, such as beginners, individual students, children, Business English, monolingual and multilingual students. Each group has separate needs and different teaching techniques may be needed for each group. For instance, children may have shorter attention spans, so their lessons may include more (and shorter) activities. Adults may be more motivated to earn or they may have specific needs related to their jobs. Multilingual students may be motivated by English being the common (default) language in which they can communicate. How we teach is often determined by who we teach.
