This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 13 provided a detailed coverage of the pronunciation including phonetic sound formation and construction. It covered intonations, stresses and other parts of common speech such as sound joining. It offered both a technical and practical approach to better understanding how we form sounds. This background knowledge will help teachers to provide better guidance for students beyond the simple modelling motion for pronunciation. The introduction of phonetic symbols was a particularly challenging section as it changed the way I perceive the written language. Furthermore, understanding the technical movement of the mouth during the formation of different sounds such as nasal sounds has given me a greater insight into my own native language.
