This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was very informative as it gave ideas on how to better prepare the course of the lessons for the class. The different techniques used to teach a foreign language are unique and resourceful in their own ways. Also, the activities listed for different aspects of the lesson look to be fun and seem that they will engage the students very well!
The ESA (engage, study, activate) method looks to be very productive and promising as I believe this is how I was taught in a language course and I do remember it being very successful! A few of the methods and techniques used for language acquisition are pretty memorable, such as the grammar-translation technique, a technique I do use in order to learn other languages. Using it first hand, I understand how it can helpfully directly translate words into my first language, but I do see that it does not completely help in using the language being learned sound natural. The presentation, practice and production method sounds to be universal as I think many teachers of many subjects have used this approach, therefore I know it will be very practical.
A lot of the games and activities look to be fun for both the teachers and the students as they are games we all may have played casually as kids. This unit did also help in pointing out that errors and mistakes are not the same and also gave helpful suggestions on when and how to positively correct the students (if needed) during the class.
