Unit 7 is about teaching new language. There are four things students should consider with new language learning; exposure, meaning, construction, and application. Teaching vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions are the main focus of this unit, along with the different ESA methods that can be used to organised the lessons. Straight arrow ESA approach is commonly used to target vocabulary and grammar lessons while boomerang or patchwork ESA approach is common with functions?based lessons.
I?ve learnt about the important factors/aspects I need to consider in teaching vocabulary and grammatical structures, as well as in teaching language functions, and the different ways of teaching language. This unit provides techniques and typical ESA lessons, along with lists of activities that can be used in every stage of an ESA lesson. This information would be of great help to me.
