Unit three discusses the various methodologies that can be used when teaching a language. The bulk of the lesson is dedicated to the ESA approach to language instruction, ESA standing for \"engage, study, activate.\" The engage phase serves to prime students for learning by getting them to interact with the target language. The study phase sees students examining the grammar being taught, while the activate phase allows students a chance to use any and all of the language that they know. I found this unit to be especially useful, as my past teaching experience is limited. Having the ESA framework through which to structure classes will enhance my ability to plan effective lessons.
