This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit teaches introducing new vocabulary and grammar to students using the ESA format. This was a helpful expansion of the initial lesson on ESA and lesson planning. The lesson encourages teachers to think about vocab and grammar lessons in relation to student level and the usefulness of certain vocabulary words and grammar structures to students in everyday writing/conversation. One thing I am wondering is whether teachers should try to teach students words that are useful in their particular cultural context. For example, I will be teaching in Korea, and in creating the food vocabulary words, I included \"rice\" and \"chopsticks\" in my words since those are things they use daily but other cultures may not. Is this helpful for the students or should a more general vocabulary be taught?
