This unit focuses on phonetics and proper pronunciation of English. Areas of difficulty for students are often intonation and stress. Many examples are given for showing students where to use stress in a statement or question, as well as common linked speech examples. An IPA chart is given and the areas of the mouth and throat where sounds come from when speaking are listed.
This unit was helpful to me because it refreshed my memory of the IPA and it gave me many helpful ideas on how to teach pronunciation in a simple, straight-forward way so that my students won't become intimidated by necessary corrections to their pronunciation.
