This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 13 covered many aspects pronunciation and phonology. As stated it is one of the most under taught areas of the English language because because most native English speaking teachers are not taught these skills. They are learned through use of the language. This unit covered quite a lot of new territory for me personally. I found the subjects of placing stress in a sentence very difficult and also the international phonetic alphabet very difficult to grasp and still have some difficulty with both.
The unit also covered intonation, how the voice rises and falls and how it conveys meaning. And how sounds of speech are formed in the throat and areas of the mouth and nasal cavities. I found it quite interesting, a lot of anatomy goes into creating an articulated sentence.
