This unit reflects upon the relevant areas a teacher has to cover in order for the student to fully engage with the new language: they have to be exposed to it, understand the meaning, grasp how it is constructed and need to be given the opportunity to practise and produce it. Whether we teach vocabulary, grammatical structures or language functions, this is best achieved by using the EAS method of teaching in either the straightforward, patchwork or boomerang version of the model.
As for the different language areas, unit 7 explains how to select relevant contents (vocabulary, grammar or function) and what is particularly important for the student to know. Various activities for the different E A and S stages make this a very useful and practical chapter.
