It is important to provide opportunities for me to get to know my students and for them to build a rapport with each other. This is especially vital at the beginning of a course. Building rapport can best be done through ice breakers, and pair/small group work. When planning each lesson I must consider the seating arrangement and make sure that my activities can be carried out easily within the space available. It is important for students to be given ample time to practice speaking with each other. A teacher must work hard to minimise 'teacher talk time' (TTT)and instead provide opportunities for students to interact with each other.
