Unit 13 has been extremely challenging for me. Studying this unit has been an eye-opener in some way. It has made me realize that I was lacking knowledge of phonology.
I have studied the unit thoroughly and I feel that I've increased my knowledge of phonology significantly.
Now I know about the International Phonetic Alphabet which can be used by all speakers of English. Besides knowing what the sounds are, I've also learnt how to teach pronunciation in the class.
Before studying this unit, I had never realized how big of an impact pronunciation and phonology have on mastering the English language. Knowing the importance now, I will substantially increase the usage of phonology in my lessons.
