There are three ways to assess a student?s language level, and these are tutorials, evaluation by students and tests. Tutorials can take place with whole group or with Individuals. It is unlikely that you will conduct individual tutorials every lesson. It might be useful to spend some time perhaps the last ten minutes at the end of the week reviewing the work done, discussing the aims of the lesson, how the students performed the tasks and whether there are any problems. It is very important to ask students to evaluate their course by means of a questionnaire/ guided discussions. It is equally appropriate to give tests to students at different stages in a course. There are a number of tests used to assess the student?s language level. Teachers should ensure that they evaluate and test all the components of the language.
