This unit focused primarily on the ways in which learning is applied, either receptively or productively.
Receptive skills are reading and listening while productive skills are speaking and writing, generally speaking. It helps, from a teaching standpoint, to keep this in mind as it could potentially be overwhelming to combine multiple learning applications in one activity, early stages of learning for example would favor a focus on writing for one activity and reading for another. This could be followed by one activity focused on reading and listening (Such as reading along with an audio track playing), or writing and speaking. Continuing with this pattern of gradual combination would be ideal for early or new learners. This unit also exemplified more structure and examples for the ESA teaching methodology, which I really appreciate as it only further ensures and supports the ESA technique's validity and importance.
