This is one factor of teaching languages that has changed a lot in the last two decades, at least in my country. Nowadays, it is natural to keep a good balance of improving receptive and productive skills. It used to be a system of \"write it down - memorize - repeat\".. What is really nice to see, and what is sometimes missing in adult classes, is creative writing and story telling being a part of a language class. I think that is a great way to get the students started. Although for adults who study English for career purposes, accurate writing and professional language is probably more important. But still..
