In this unit, I learned about teaching the productive skills, which are speaking and writing. Firstly, the chapter discussed the difference between accuracy and fluency exercises. Next, three types of activities were introduced; controlled, guided and creative communication. Then, the chapter discussed why some students might be reluctant to speak up during class and some methods of encouraging them. In addition, the chapter presented an sample ESA lesson for creative speaking. The second part of the chapter discussed writing and what is important for a teacher to consider while teaching writing skills.
