This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Before one can create output they must be able to understand input thoroughly, that is what reading and writing essentially is. It is language input, on the other hand writing and speaking are language outputs, it means you understand the input enough to produce your own output. The lesson may be short but I know they needed to be mentioned because this is of great importance, especially when teaching a student. I've taken the TOEIC tests before and they're divided into two different test one is for Writing and Speaking, and the other is for Listening and Reading. This test tries to give an accurate breakdown of the students' skill set and grasp of the language, it allows future universities or employers to see how well one commands the language. In the end, I believe a lot of my future students will have to take tests like the TOEIC, they must be well acquainted with this lesson, and the one after it.
