This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
During this unit, I learned important factors involved in class management. I learn how I can use eye contact, gesture, voice, classroom settings to manage a class. Other factors involved in managing a class are groupwork and pairwork. I learned that circles and horseshoes arrangement can be used for smaller classroom where the teacher and board are situated at the end of the arrangement. In addition, I learned that teacher?s position can tell students what they are expected to do , what kind of activity is going to be done and what the teacher?s role will be. Furthermore, I learned how teacher talking time and student talking time can be managed in the class using different techniques. Family problems and peer pressure can be reasons for problem behavior. There are ways to avoid problem behavior such as being punctual and prepared. To respond to problem behavior we should act immediately or talk to the student after the class in private.
