Usually I just use the future simple and the future continuous tense without really thinking too much about it. Now I realize that each and every one of them is different in function and I will start to use them accordingly. Student might find be going to and present continuous (future expression) a little bit difficult to differentiate. That's why in my opinion, teaching them together is a good idea. Other pair that might give students problems are future perfect and future perfect continuous and or future perfect and future continuous tense. Teaching them in pair will definitely help students to grasp the full meaning of it better and hopefully they can apply it in their daily life easily.
