As a teacher it is important to learn theories, methods, and techniques as a foundation to teach the second language. It also helps the instructor plan a well rounded lesson in which students are able to engage and be involved in the learning. Being new to teaching an EFL course, this unit has taught me the three areas to focus on in order to write a lesson plan and include activities relevant to the concepts being taught. The effective method of Engage, Study, and Activate has helped me understand, as mentioned in the unit, that students need to be motivated,be exposed to the language and have the opportunity to use it, and then make sure that all these factors come into play in the classroom.
