The current unit covered classroom management, classroom organization, the building of rapport, and dealing with discipline. As a former teacher, much of the material in this unit served as a welcome reminder for how to conduct a class. What I found most helpful were aspects that uniquely apply to teaching EFL -- for example, the understanding that in pairs or in groups, students will be tempted to revert back to their native language. Another useful section of this unit was the importance placed on using language that is below the level being taught. This latter point is particularly noteworthy because of the tradition in American schools for teachers of specialized subjects to use language above the level of ability.
