This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, I learned the history of different teaching philosophies and the pros and cons of each of these methods. Additionally, I learned about how I can apply elements from almost all of these philosophies simultaneously by using the ESA method: Engage, Study, Activate. The unit provided me with some examples on how I can apply the ESA method (for instance, showing pictures of models in magazines to learn colors and clothing types, utilizing role play to work on a lesson that was covered in the Study section, using worksheets with fill-in-the-blank for the Study section, etc.). What was also useful for me was reviewing the best way to provide feedback to the students and correct them on both their written and spoken responses.
