In this unit, I learnt that they are four basic skills in any language. The receptive skills which are reading and listening and the productive skills which are speaking and writing. We should try to incorporate all of them as they are all very important. They are different reasons to why we read. We read for a purpose or for entertainment. I have also learnt that reading and listening isn't simply a matter for eyes and ears, but also a matter of using your mind to understand words and process them in your pre-existent knowledge to gain true understanding.
Reading is a little less difficult than listening because when the learner is reading, he has the opportunity to read the text many times and go over the difficult words.
In order to get the students interest it is important to get to know them and their interest. It's important to chose a variety of topics that are not too easy or too difficult.
