In managing a classroom there are many things to be aware of. the size, space, age and expectation of the students all play a part. Good teachers us eye contact and positive hand gestures to engage students and give feedback. Using students name personalizes and helps build good relationship with each student. How you set up your space can effect instruction, remember what the goal of the lesson is and try to use the space available to your advantage. Small groups and pairs are good for engaging students to practice the lesson and give maximum amount of time for each student to practice.Students in rows many have to used if you have over 25 students or a small space but students can turn to one another and still practice the language. Keeping the lessons varied and being prepared for the lesson with information already written on the board or overhead allows the teacher to keep engaged with the students. All these ideas along with a good sense of humor and a smile can help to ensure a good lesson.
