In this unit I viewed two different examples of a class, one with ineffective teaching methods and one with good teaching methods. In the first example the instructor didn't introduce themselves, didn't establish rapport with the students, made the task too difficult for the students, chose difficult words to explain the lesson and repeatedly stated the task was easy and that students should be able to complete the tasks. The second lesson, the instructor smiled, learned students' names, used their names throughout the class, encouraged group work and used miming and pictures to help engage students. The second class was more effective.
