This unit taught me about how to teach productive skills of speaking and writing. Providing sample typical speaking and writing activity lessons was very helpful because it showed me the difference between speaking which requires a higher level of fluency and writing which demands more accuracy in using the language. I also learned that in the Activate stage there are usually games. When initiating the activate game playing/creation phase, it is important to remind students and define what is a game; that it is an activity that has rules, a teaching point, and is fun. Before the activate stage begins the teacher must have all necessary materials for the students, to demonstrate how the activity is expected to be done, and get students into pairs or groups with their materials to create, give them time to create, monitor them while they are in this process but do not correct them on the spot, but rather assess and observe making note of patterns in errors that the teacher can discuss with the students in the Feedback portion as well as pointing out what they did correctly and well they did on the project.
