Unit 18 covers modals, phrasal verbs and the passive voice. Modals when used within a sentence can change many things about how the sentence comes across to others i.e. how sure you are about something, whether you are asking or telling the listener something and how polite or formal you need to sound.
Passive voice takes eh attention away from the subject and is used when we are unsure, it is not important or we do not want to say who it was doing the action mentioned.
phrasal verbs I found much trickier to grasp but there are 3 types and they consist of a verb plus one or two particles.In this unit we covered the advantages and disadvantages of teaching beginner students. We also covered the different types of classes and students. We learned different techniques to use with the different types of classes. For example, you would use different strategies for a one on one class verses a business class. The teacher needs to be able to adapt to her students ages and needs. The teacher should remain professional at all times. Starting out more strict and becoming more relaxed at a later date is better than staring out very lax. It allows you to have and keep control of the class.
