Their results can help teachers create lesson plans that focus on areas of difficulty and do not repeat lessons that the students already understand. Progress tests are helpful for determining students' understanding and acquisition of language that has already been taught in the classroom. It is important to understand whether students will be taking any external exams to measure their English language proficiency outside of the classroom or school, so that practice tests can be given in the format of those external exams so the students will be better prepared.
