This unit is referencing what components are needed to teach new vocabulary and grammatical structure. As well as, how to properly implement them in a lesson. For instance when introducing new vocabulary there are certain factors that need to be taken into account, the same is true for grammatical structure. When selecting vocabulary the Frequency, Coverage, Teachability and Appropriateness for both the students and task have to be taken into account prior to introducing the new words. Students need to know the Meaning, Use, Grammar, Pronunciation etc. The straight arrow ESA works well when introducing vocabulary, while the boomerang and patchwork ESA methods work well for implementing the vocabulary and grammar structure.
