I thought that this unit was an extremely important and very helpful one. It was really interesting to understand and learn the importance of a teacher's presence in establishing a good classroom dynamic as well as how much their approach to various situations can have a huge affect on how efficiently students are able to learn and make progress in the English language. I had never given much thought to all the small details and little actions a teacher does and the huge consequences they can have. For example seating arrangements, the ratio between sitting/standing, eye contact and the amount of gestures that they use. It was fascinating for me to think back to my own experience as a student and reflect on my favourite and least favourite teachers. I thought about how they approached these various factors and what kind of an effect that had on my learning and the classroom atmosphere.
