After reading Unit 11 I can distinguish different skills that are to be developed during language development. I learned the difference between receptive and productive skills, and how they are all equally important. As teachers it is our job to create lessons that will allow students to practice and grow in all areas, as opposed to only practicing one skill. There are many techniques that students can learn to use to comprehend texts, as there will be various purposes for various kinds of texts. These are some of the many things we should keep in mind when planning our instruction and we must also cater to all students' interests throughout the school year.
