Unit 19 discusses different types of learners. There are absolute beginners and false beginners. Absolute beginners have no English at all where as, false beginners have previous exposure to English but have not retained much. There are adult beginners and young beginners. Adult beginners are usually more motivated as they are usually choosing to take the course on their own, where as children are using being made to take the course by their parents. Young learners learn more quickly than adult beginners. There are students that are learning in a school setting and then there are business learners who want to learn specific language relating to their careers. There is also a class setting for learning and then there is 1 on 1 tutoring. Both have unique challenges and benefits that are addressed in this unit.
