This unit is about past tenses. It includes past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. A lot of verbs have an irregular simple past form. They have to be learnt as there are no rules to them.Past simple is used for actions in the past which happened at a certain time. There are different games how teachers can teach kids irregular forms, such as card games, interview-role play and so on. Past continuous almost alway requires some form of time description. Often used together with past simple.Past perfect is used for actions that accured before other actions in the past.Past perfect continuous is used for situations that had been going on for quite a long time until the past moment that we are thinking about. There are a lot of mistakes that are commonly made, so as teachers we have to make sure we teach kids how not to make them.
