This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 12 focused on teaching the two productive skills, speaking and writing. The unit described both fluency (allowing the students to be creative with language) and accuracy (producing correct language) activities and gave examples of both, including controlled activities which are focused on accuracy and creative communication which focuses on fluency. Unit 12 continued with examples of both speaking and writing activities and also typical ESA lesson outlines for both. This unit was helpful in deciphering the different approaches to speaking and writing activities. Furthermore, it outlined the different aspects of both teachers should focus on. For example, while conducting writing activities it's important to focus on handwriting, spelling, layout and punctuation and creative writing. At the end of the unit it gave examples of games that could be used in the classroom and tailored to any age.
