This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covered ways of evaluating students language level and progress within a class. It listed the different ways a student can be evaluated which are by tests, tutorials and by the students themselves. The unit went on to list and explain the different ways students can be tested.
I learnt that placement test enable teacher to place students in the appropriate class according to their language ability. This test starts easy and increases in difficulty.
Progress test: tests the students on what they have learnt and what they may have forgotten. It allows the teacher and students to know what they need to work on.
The 2 other test which I learnt about were diagnostic and practice test. Diagnostic test are much like the placement test. It simply tests the student current knowledge and guides the teacher in terms of what lessons to prepare. The Practice test are used to practice, as the name suggests, for external exams.
