Thus unit covered the ways in which specific grammatical ideas fit into the English language. The first of these ideas were conditionals, which use words like \"if\" or \"when\" to discuss possibilities in a point in time. The other idea was reported vs. direct speech. That is, how a sentence is said directly vs. how that sentence is reported as having been said afterwards. What I learned were ways to teach these sometimes complicated ideas while also engaging students. Exercises such as \"complete the conditional,\" for example, in which students must fill in the missing half of a conditional, are ways that students can have fun and learn the material at the same time.
