This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit explains about how a teacher can evaluate the students. Tutorials, evaluation by students, and tests are some of the ways to evaluate a student's language level. Tests are given to students at different stages in a course. Placement tests are used to enable teachers to gauge a student's language level. This type of tests starts easy and gradually becomes difficult as the course progresses. Progress tests are used periodically to gauge what language has been remembered/retained by the student. Diagnostic tests are given at the start of the course to see what the students already know and to help the teacher prepare future lesson plans according to the students abilities. Practice tests are exams given in preparation for an external exam. Some examples of external exams are the toefl and ielts.
In this unit i have learned that different tests can be used by the teacher to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the students/. Using the results in the evaluation, the teacher can then adapt his/her lesson plans to cover any weaknesses the student may have.
