This unit explores the issue of how to choose the most appropriate materials for a certain group of English students. It describes the differences between authentic and created materials, how and when to use which in order to have a balanced approach. A set of example created materials are given such as crossword, word search, flashcards, picture stories, roleplay cards. The unit also covers the advantages and disadvantages of coursebooks as well as how to choose the most appropriate one and make most out of it. A practical lesson which gave me confidence to trust my intuition when choosing materials for students.
