Grammar continues to be one of the most important aspects of teaching English. One of the most difficult decisions about grammar is whether or not to teach \"right and wrong\" grammar or to teach \"more formal and less formal.\" Teaching \"conditionals\" and direct and indirect speech is hard enough. But, it becomes even harder when certain rules of overlooked and/or bent for the sake of \"popular\" or \"modern\" practices. The unit helped me to reinforce my belief that teaching students the right and proper aspects of grammar is first and foremost. Then, after, I can explain that there are those that would bend the rules of grammar and claim that such violations are \"less formal.\" It is important that students know proper vs. improper and why.
