This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Writing is, without a doubt, the most neglected skill when teaching English. This is due to a variety of factors, such as time, interest, level, and many more. However, this cannot be the case if we want our students to trully learn the language. Every now and then we should focus one of our lessons mainly on writing, and creating the atmosphere for them to develop a liking to this skill which will help them develop the accuracy necessary to be successful speakers of English. This does not mean that Speaking isn't an equally important skill, and focusing on writing could bring a unique opportunity to practise speaking with the students, where they share their own work and are able to connect in a deeper level with the content of the class, for they are the ones who created it. Selecting the material for both of this skills can prove to be trying, as it has to be engaging, appropriate to the level of the class and still allow for the creativity necessary to flow, in order for the students to be able to actually create the material instead of copying it.
