Teaching methods have developed into a more student involved and active way of learning. It is no longer beneficial to teach students to translate from their L1 to the L2. Engaging students interests and involving them in activities that uses the L2 language will encourage students to make an effort to learn and apply the language in class and in life. Having a balance of structured teaching with creative methods of applying the language will help a student succeed in their speaking, reading, writing and listening skills. I believe the method of ESA has left room to consider the rapidly changing world of technology and global communication. It takes advantage of a student's background knowledge and experiences and challenges them to use it in a new context and setting that helps to grow other areas of their life and not just language.
