Unit 2 is of particular importance when teaching ESL. It is vital from the beginning that students have some comprehension of parts of speech. The who or what as the subject, \"be' verbs and \"doing\" verbs, and how to use them. In my experience, students have gained confidence from understanding basic parts of speech. When they comprehend subject, verb, noun combinations, when to use them, they are far more inclined to speak.
The unit had a particular focus on tenses; base verbs, past simple, past participle, and present participle. These are the basics of English writing and the unit broke down different parts of speech, when mastered, makes learning English a far less daunting task.
