In this lesson, I leaned a lot about productive skills including Speaking and Writing. In English learning and teaching, students and teachers always pay more attention to Speaking which is generally used in communicating and considered as the most important part. So writing is the most neglected skill.
For teachers, it is obvious that the content of an English class can not be covered by four English skills, time is not enough for that.so they will leave part of them they can practice by themselves as homework like listening and writing and focus more on the skills they need teachers to help and correct like speaking and reading. That is why writing skill is often neglected.
In speaking activity lesson, teacher should encourage students to speak, especially for beginner students, sometimes they are too shy to speak. So teacher can make them work with partners or in group. Before activities, giving them some time to think what they are going to say is necessary. What's more , adding some fun English games can be seen a good way to make students enjoy the class and get relaxed to talk.
For the Fluency based activities, the content of language should not be controlled by teachers, and teacher had better not correct each mistake as soon as they make, we should let students focus on flow of the communication,allow them to try to use it creatively in a fluency activity. So in Activate stage, Fluency is more important than Accuracy for beginner students in English- learning.
