This unit looks at the various ways to go about teaching specialized groups of English students such as with one on one lessons, teaching a young or multilingual classroom, and teaching business English. All of these groups have their special needs and the class must therefore be tailored to them appropriately. One on one lessons will be much more personal and informal and will have a lot of discussion. Young learners need a lot of visual aids, verbal affirmation when they do well, and they need to have things explained simply and clearly. Most of all, young learners want to have fun, so switching up lessons and activities frequently to suit their interest is a good thing to do. Teaching business English is a very specific type of teaching as well. A classroom full of company employee's is a much different dynamic than that of a room of young children. One very important thing to do in those work situations is to make sure you understand as much about the company as possible so that you can appropriately advise them to the vocabulary and grammatical skills that they will need most to be as successful as possible in their field.
