This unit discussed teaching productive skills. These skills include speaking and writing. We communicate for many different reasons and the students should get familiar with these reasons. In the classroom we will be communicating with an emphasis on accuracy and fluency. Accuracy and fluency are equally important. When it comes to speaking activities, controlled and guided activities are accuracy based, whereas creative communication games are fluency based. Encouraging students to speak can be difficult but is extremely necessary. Maintaining a positive attitude is something teachers can do to help encourage students to speak. Games can be used for speaking and writing activities usually for the warmer and/or activate stage of the lesson.
