This unit really emphasized the various methods of teaching using ESA, Engage, Study, Activate. The various versions of this include patchwork, boomerang and straight arrow. The three versions provides versatility when teaching lessons. They allow the teacher to use her discretion and observations of students to mold the lesson to best suit the class.
This unit taught me about various teaching materials which have their unique purposes. Authentic material should be used to give students confidence in real world situations. Text books are useful because they are structured and have been tested and proved to be effective. A balanced mix of both materials provides for a strong well-rounded lesson.
