Unit 7 is about how to teach new language. New language is broken down into three categories: vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions. The unit describes what information is essential to impart in a lesson, such as the meaning and use of new vocabulary or grammar, and what criteria to consider in choosing what to teach. This unit also lays out what types of activities and lesson plans are best suited to introducing each type of new language. The sample lesson plans were helpful in linking the information provided in Unit 7 with the previous units, and in keeping my mind actively considering how to approach different teaching challenges and opportunities.
